


Stocking Pelham Race Night
A Race Night is to be held at Stocking Pelham Village Hall on January 23rd 2009.
The First Race is at 8pm, dress for the races!
Tickets are £7.50 per person which includes supper and there will be a pay bar. You can also be an owner for £5 and if it wins the prize money is £20!
Proceeds are in aid of the Village Hall.

Treecreeper
The Treecreeper (Certhia familiaris) also known as the Eurasian treecreeper can be seen in the woods around the Pelhams.
However it rarely makes a sound and is quite hard to spot running up and down the bark of a tree.

Hare
The Brown Hare (Lepus europaeus) is larger, longer-eared, and longer-legged than a rabbit. It has a body size of 50-70 cm and a tail length of 7-11 cm.
The weight for a full-grown adult ranges from 2.5 to 6.5 kg. It can run at speeds of up to 70 km/h (45 mph)
Normally shy animals, hares change their behaviour in Spring, when they can be seen in broad daylight chasing one another around the fields in the Pelhams; this appears to be competition between males to attain dominance (and hence more access to breeding females).

Dear Family and Friends,
On the evening of the 15th September 2008 I sat outside as dusk fell over Zimbabwe and I could almost hear a sigh of relief rising up from our broken country. It had been a day of such high expectation and with so much emotion that sitting quietly as the sun fell and the stars rose was necessary for the soul, to take it all in and to look back, and forwards.
