Berden Fete has become one of the finest events of its kind in the counties of Essex & Hertfordshire; if not East Anglia. It is a traditional English garden fete with many of the features one would expect to find at such an event: coconut shy, tombola, cream teas, silver band and dozens of other stalls, side shows and attractions for people of all ages.

This is not an excuse for commercial enterprise: everything results from the hard work and enthusiasm of
Berden villagers, for both this event and the good of their community.

Berden Fete, depending upon school term dates, takes place on either the second or third Saturday in July in the delightful gardens of Berden Hall. Generally billed as an Edwardian Garden Fete, to complement the very English garden venue, there is, most years, a secondary theme to encourage enterprise amongst the stalls and give the day some variety as the years go by: 2001 - was, obviously, space travel, 2002 - The Queens Jubilee; 2003 The Lord of the Rings and for 2004 we have asked the International Olympic Committee and the city of Athens if they would like to participate with our fete and, thereby, enhance their own little 2004 spectacular. There help, as well as yours, would be greatly appreciated this year as the Berden Fete Committee has a particularly hard act to follow; the 2003 fete raised over £8500.00 profit which was shared equally between our village hall, the church of St. Nicholas and our childrens playground; with an additional, but somewhat smaller amount, going to our own village charity fund for use within the parish; when the need arises.

FeteWherever you are reading this please feel free to be part of our event; which is essential for the financial well being of our community. If you cannot come in person; gifts (to be used as prizes) or donations (cheques make payable to Berden Fete) should be sent to:-
