A substantial piece of land was given to the village just over thirty years ago when the housing at St Nicholas Field was built. Through the efforts of the villagers this amenity was developed into a playground for the young people in the village. A swing, seesaw and other items were built from telegraph poles and over the years the facility has been well used. The land and equipment is maintained by the Parish Council and the facility is open at all times for the use of all villagers.
Over the years the increasing demands of the Health and Safety legislation coupled with a need to improve and expand on the facilities has led to the formation of a ‘Playground Committee' and the development of a plan to improve the facilities to provide a central meeting and play area for families. The expectation is that these improvements will be completed during 2004 and be funded by fund raising within the village, a grant from the lottery ‘Awards for All' and a substantial grant from ‘Living Spaces'.
