The Constitution of the Village Hall is contained in a Conveyance and Trust Deed dated 21^st December 1948 whereby the building and site of the Village Hall was conveyed from Berden (Village Hall) Limited to Berden Parish Council.

The Parish Council holds the Village Hall on certain Trusts which are set out in the Deed.

The main provisions are:-

                        In addition to the members of the Committee appointed by organisations, other members are appointed at the AGM and the Committee has power to co-opt members to "represent interests in the Village not represented by any organisation".

The Deed makes it clear that the committee has the sole responsibility for maintaining and running the hall on a sound financial basis. It is not responsible for setting up any organisation or the running any clubs or functions, except the Annual General Meeting and any necessary intervening meetings of the committee.
