Village Highways Maintenance |

A "gang" is due to visit Berden, in July, to carry out maintenance work. We need to supply a list of jobs to be included by early June, Please notify Philip tel. 777877 or Andrew tel. 777784 if you have anything that you think needs doing.
Generally Highways should end up with three lists of works from each parish visit. This particular request is to ask for our input in identifying works that we believe could be included on the first list.The work will be carried out by their contractor May Gurney using a gang generally of 2 men and a vehicle equipped with suitable plant and materials. They will not spend more than one day on any specific item of work.Examples of work that can be included on your lists: - Category 1 defects - defects that are deemed to represent a danger or serious inconvenience to the public or which could result in significant damage to property
- Siding - the removal of overgrowth from the edges of footways
- Resetting kerbs
- Resetting gullies
- Potholes and small carriageway or footway repairs
- Sign cleaning
- Vegetation clearing from signs.
Examples of work that will not be considered: - Requests for new works (i.e. speed reduction schemes, footways, lay-bys, crossings)
- Structural maintenance - where the requirement would be to rebuild rather than to maintain a particular area
- Cutting private vegetation
- Street Lighting
- Any single piece of work likely to take longer than 1 day to complete.
On receipt of our lists they will endeavour to arrange to meet with the PC to discuss what works will be carried out as part of the planned visit and to inform us as to when that visit will be.
